It didn't fit my 5/8" T&G flooring at all, so I ended up taking it off. The stapler arrived in a nice case and in good condition. The first problem came when connecting it to my air compressor - the fitting supplied with the stapler was a little out of spec and didn't let my air hose connection seat all the way, allowing the air hose to pop off. I bought this stapler because of the removable flooring foot - a rare feature. However, the firing point is small enough that it's easy to position it on the tongue and lay flooring without the foot. All the negatives being said, though, it's a very easy to use stapler, lets you get in pretty tight places, it's simple to reload, and it's easy to see how many staples are in the magazine. You may need to change this fitting depending on your air hose. There's also something not quite right with the feeder - it fires a staple about 75% of the time, and the rest of the time it dry-fires. Final issue - the flooring foot is designed for very thin flooring and is not adjustable. It's rugged and lightweight. So once you get used to the misfire rate, you can go pretty fast with it.
I installed 2000 SF of engineered oak flooring with this tool. Worked like a charm, and was well worth the money. Weekends, and some evening and never had one jam, misfire, or bent staple. I stapled as fast as I could pull the trigger. I used it a couple of times as a regular stapler as well and that was also flawless. I would completely recommend it to anyone consider an engineered floor.
Did a bit of a research before I decided to purchase this stapler. I got stuck installing 3/8 Brazilian Walnut hardwood floor. Considering that this is one of the hardest wooden floors around, I was a little worried that it wouldn't work, but, it works great. Had to bump up PSI to about 85, but like I said, no issues with it.
Good product. It did what it was suppose to. No problems with jams.
Knowing that I had a flooring job that was going to take place over multiple weekends, It made more sense cost-wise to just outright by a flooring stapler. My one complaint may be the lousy directions (which don't even specify how to convert the nailer from standard configuration to floor stapler). of the project this weekend, I can honestly say that the 461 worked like a champ.
One, was the fact that it could easily be converted to a standard stapler (something few models do). I never had one dry fire, twisted staple, blowout or any other issues whatsoever. After a little online research, I chose the 461 for a couple of reasons.
After dialing the pressure into 70 PSI, the 461 sailed through the Bruce Engineered hardwood flooring in my kids bedroom. Also, the price point was reasonable. After finishing the first 200 sq ft.
Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the nailer. Aside from that, I'm very happy with its performance.
